The Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association is pleased to announce the availability of scholarships to Nebraska veterinary students. There are scholarships available from two separate funds: the Dr. O.H. and Ruth Person Scholarship Fund and the NVMA Centennial Scholarship Foundation, Inc. We invite you to make application for these scholarships. A single application form qualifies the student for consideration of a scholarship from either source.
Dr. Person was a former State Veterinarian, State Senator, and longtime veterinarian in the Wahoo, Nebraska area. The Dr. O.H. and Ruth Person Scholarships will be based on available funds and the decision of the Committee. Any sophomore, junior or senior student may apply.
The NVMA Centennial Scholarship Foundation, Inc. was established following the Association's Centennial Year in 1996. The “seed money” to establish the foundation and provide for its first scholarship was provided by the sale of 150 limited edition bronze sculptures. For 2016-17, the board of directors has authorized $19,850 for fall scholarships (application deadline October 15, 2016) to 29 students. Scholarships vary in size from $300 to $4,000. In addition the board authorized four $500 scholarships to pre-veterinary students to be awarded in the spring of 2017 (application deadline March 15, 2017).
SCHOLARSHIPS FROM THE NVMA CENTENNIAL SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION AND THE DR. O.H. AND RUTH PERSON FUND, ARE TO BE AWARDED TO STUDENTS FROM NEBRASKA PURSUING A DEGREE IN VETERINARY MEDICINE ON A FULL TIME BASIS AT AN ACCREDITED INSTITUTION.
