The Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) has completed all testing of herds related epidemiologically to South Dakota’s Tuberculosis (TB)-infected herds discovered in 2017, according to the report from State Veterinarian Dennis Hughes, DVM, in the current issue of the NVMA's Veterinary Views. This was an arduous process, (over 15 months) which began when South Dakota discovered an infected herd in February 2017, and another herd in November 2017. With the assistance of regional USDA-Veterinary Services personnel, NDA worked on 198 “trace events” to Nebraska herds, related to the two South Dakota infected herds. South Dakota was still sending trace events as recently as May of this year. Read the full report in the July-September Veterinary Views.
