Internships for 1st-Year Veterinarians

The American Association of Veterinary Clinicians sponsors the Veterinary Internship and Residency Matching Program (VIRMP) to expedite the selection of interns for participating veterinary colleges and private veterinary practices.

Veterinary Internship Matching Program

The VIRMP follows principles established by the Physicians National Intern and Resident Matching Program. The prospective intern selects a program or programs to rank. The applicant completes an Application Packet and submits the application via this website. The institution or private practice, through its selection process, ranks the applicants according to its criteria. The VIRMP uses a central computer facility for matching prospective interns with programs. Both rank order lists are confidential. The VIRMP utilizes sophisticated computer software to match applicants and programs in a way that insures each receives the highest available option on their rank order list.

VCA MidWest Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center will offer three (3) internships with a focus in emergency/critical to begin in June 2018. Complete information regarding the internship program, as well as an application, may be found by clicking here.
