A progressive, busy, mixed animal practice in Holdrege, NE is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic associate to join our team. This well established practice consists of a main office as well as a satellite clinic located in Minden. The new associate would join three other DVM's, and a youthful, experienced and compassionate staff. Our practice is truly mixed with the majority of the work consisting of bovine (feedlot & cow-calf) and small animal. We routinely do orthopedic surgeries including ACL repair, Patellar luxation fixation, and bone plating as well as IM pin placement for fracture repair. This is not just community practice when cattle work is slow! Also, the equine and small ruminant caseload has grown in the past years, and we are currently building an addition onto our clinic to accommodate our: equine caseload and equipment, portable bovine hoof trimming table, and our neonatal bovine ICU ward. Holdrege (the county seat) is a thriving community located in south central Nebraska in Phelps county; only a short drive from the nearest city, Kearney. We have a tremendous new hospital, YMCA and performing arts center in Holdrege. Harlan County Lake and Johnson Lake are within 45 minutes and provide a great opportunity for boating and fishing. There are also many great golf courses, including Awarii Dunes, located in Axtell, NE.
Responsibilities would include providing medical and surgical care to all species. This will involve obstetrical, necropsy and individual animal treatment at feedyards and ranches primarily located within a 30 mi radius of Holdrege; as well as primary management of medical and surgical cases including wellness and vaccination appointments in the hospital. The ideal candidate would be someone with a primary interest in focusing on companion animal practice, but who would also be willing to do large animal and small ruminant work as well. Delivery of our regularly scheduled Herd health Management Services is not an expectation of this position, but the opportunity exists for the right individual! After hours and weekend care would always involve all species.
We have state of the art blood chemistry and CBC machines, digital radiography, as well as gas anesthesia with Breathe Safe monitoring, easi-scan ultrasounds, vetScan UA, tonometry and fantastic Dentalaire machines and equine power float. Both locations have haul-in facilities with hydraulic Daniels chutes for working cattle as well 2 portable hydraulic Daniels chutes, a portable hydraulic calf tub and chute, and a portable Tuffy Tilt Table. A fully stocked practice vehicle with Bowie is provided for day calls and afterhours work.
Both clinics are in very family oriented towns that offer a small town feel with many amenities. Salary and benefits are negotiable and commensurate with experience. Experience is preferred but new graduates are encouraged to apply. Interested parties should send a resume to the Holdrege Veterinary Clinic, P.C., 2201 4th Ave., Holdrege, NE 68949 or e-mail to: firstname.lastname@example.org
